SAFE – Supportive Approachable Friendly Environment

The 3R Foundation recently awarded £362 to SAFE – Supportive Approachable Friendly Environment for two tablet computers, protective cases and security boxes.

SAFE is a local charity supporting young people and adults experiencing mental health difficulties, isolation and other life challenges across Lancaster, Morecambe and the surrounding areas. The charity provides support through two community groups – Socialease and the Prop-up Project.

Socialease is open to adults aged 18+ who may be experiencing loneliness or isolation because of their mental health or other circumstances. Meeting in quieter local cafés, the group provides a relaxed and welcoming environment where people can take that important first step out of the house, meet others with similar experiences, join in conversations and activities – or simply come along and ‘be’.

The 3R grant funded two tablet computers with protective cases and secure storage boxes for use at Socialease sessions.

The tablets have allowed staff and volunteers to move away from paper-based systems, making it easier to maintain session records, monitor engagement and securely record safeguarding concerns. They can also quickly access useful information online to help answer questions and signpost group members towards other sources of support.

It’s a practical investment that has made the charity’s day-to-day work more efficient, leaving its team better equipped to concentrate on what matters most – supporting the people who come through the door.

The 3R Foundation funds grants like this through the Recycle, Reuse, Rehome charity shop in Carnforth (next to Tesco).
